ANGIE DUDLEYOpis
The newest way to eat cake since the cupcake, these cute little treats are cake and frosting mixed together, dipped in chocolate or other candy coating, and decorated to make little yellow chicks, reindeer, jack-o-lanterns, a box of popcorn, and the most famous so far--one that looks like a cupcake. The cupcake version got Bakerella onto the Martha Stewart Show, where she wowed Martha with how cute and easy they were to make. The book includes more than 40 projects from koala bears and cute puppies to ghosts and snowmen. Basic recipes show how to make a classic cake pop and readers can go to the projects to embellish them into fabulously cute treats. Cake pops can be made with boxed cake mix and store-bought frosting but recipes from scratch are included for those who want them. Plus an extensive section of resources includes lists and photos of the different decorations that can be used to make the pops (red hots to oreos) and an array or Web sites to go to find them (though most can be purchased from an average supermarket). Loads and loads of photos are included throughout -- in fact every cake pop has a photo giving readers a visual reference for every project. Cake Pops are the newest and cutest way to eat cake since the cupcake! --Cake Pops are the brainchild of Angie Dudley aka Bakerella, a blog devoted to baking and, especially, to cake pops. --The Bakerella blog attracts more than 200,000 unique visitors a month and rising (more than 1 million page views) and has enough recognition to be solicited by magazines like Food & Wine (she gave them a Thanksgiving cake pop recipe), companies like General Mills (she was invited to create a halloween recipe using their cereal and was flown to the corporate office for a tour and wine and dine), and other bloggers including hot hot hot Pioneer Woman (who flew her in along with contest winners to her home to make cake pops) --Bakerella was on the Martha Stewart Show in 2008 to demonstrate how to make Cake Pops. (Martha loved them!) --This book has tons of photos--every project has a photo --The book has a lay-flat semi-concealed wire-o binding that leaves the reader hands free so they can attend to making their own cake pop creations --The website will support the book with a rotating selection of cake pops featured on the site. --Cupcakes are getting a bit saturated in the marketplace. This book offers a great alternative to cupcakes for bookstores and specialty retailers --What a deal! 40 projects--50+ photos--Web presence---all for only $19.95! --Bakerella.com has been recognized by popular Web sites such as: * The Pioneer Woman * Evite * Craftzine * Serious Eats * Cookie Magazine (defunct) * Hostess with the Mostess * Brides * Slashfood * Chow * Cupcakes Take the Cake --Bakerella.com was nominated for Best Food Blog in the 2009 Weblog Awards.
